Sunday 27 Novem
ber - 2016 Annual Victorian Xmas Market & Fayre - 2-8pm at the Market, Penkridge (see diary for more information)
An unbelievable success - thousands attended, causing temporary traffic jams (unfortunately, the overflow car park was still flooded).  The stalls, charities and traders did very well I understand and the Two Choirs, Stafford Morris Men, the Punch & Judy shows and the fire eater entertainers were a great success.  Thank you to the fair for being considerate and not too noisy this time AND we were blessed with a little sunshine in the afternoon and NO RAIN.   It was open this year from 2 to 8pm but people were trying to gain access even in the morning long before the official opening.  Penkridge Business Association and Matt Williams (Event Organiser) did a great job today - well done and thank you.
A long day for the stallholders - thank you for attending and we hope you all had a good day. And a big thank you to the volunteers who helped, particularly Paul Caley and Peter Bramwell - we couldn't have done it without you.

WEST MIDLANDS INTERCHANGE: A proposal for a New Strategic Rail Freight Hub at Gailey taking out 700 acres of the Green Belt

Four Ashes Limited (FAL) is consulting on proposals for a new Strategic Rail Freight Interchange near to Junction 12 of the M6 at Four Ashes.  The feedback form is part of the first stage of consultation, which ran until Sunday July 24.  More information about the proposals is available on line at the project website www.westmidlandsinterchange.co.uk, at public exhibitions during the consultation period, by post – FAL will send out a copy of the Consultation Overview Document free of charge upon request, or at local information points.  These are Brewood Library, Penkridge Library and South Staffordshire Council Offices at Codsall.  Feedback can be sent via the online feedback form, by e-mail via contactus@communityrelations.co.uk  or by posting the form to the freepost address FREEPOST WMI.  There is also a Freephone number for information 0800 377 7345.  During Stage 1 of the consultation FAL would like to hear about local information, issues and concerns and opinions on the layout options for the site.

There was a very well attended public exhibition on the West Midlands Interchange  at The Haling Dene Centre recently.
Let the Parish Council have your views as they will be officially commenting if and when an application is submitted
to the Planning Authority.  The proposals are immense and will take out 700 acres of Green Belt in our Parish of Penkridge (in the Gailey Ward).  Other Parish Councils and communities around the proposed site are very concerned and an Action Group has been formed to gather information and prepare a response from the communites affected.

In addition there are great fears that the development would exacerbate the already serious problem of large numbers of heavy Goods Vehicles travelling through the centre of our Community of Penkridge.
Staffordshire County Council's response to this Stage 1 Consultation on this proposal can be found HERE.
